Seagulls in the Community appoint Community Manager

The official club charity of Weston-super-Mare AFC, Seagulls in the Community, are excited to announce the appointment of Andy Kynaston as Community Manager.

The charity was relaunched in 2023 by trustees Bridget Bolland, Oli Bliss and Alex Crowther, who have now appointed Andy to lead on a comprehensive community engagement plan across Weston-super-Mare.

Andy joined the charity as a trustee in September 2023 and has been a key part of the charity activities, including the successful partnership with Weston Ability Football Club and setting up the supporters minibus for away travel to men’s first team matches.

He spent 32 years serving in the Royal Air Force and the Police - His last role with Avon and Somerset Police saw him lead multiple community projects in Weston-super-Mare working with children and young people.

Talking about his appointment, Andy said: “I feel excited and privileged to have been appointed the Community Manager for Seagulls in the Community.

Working in partnership with the football club and using the resources we both have, there is a unique opportunity to engage with local people, run a range of projects with clear community benefits, and support local charities and organisations that do incredible work.”

Seagulls in the Community have a range of exciting projects coming up that Andy will be involved in, including the launch of ‘The Dugout’ youth club.

Charity Trustee, Bridget Bolland, said: "This is a great appointment for the Seagulls in the Community.

"Andy has so much to offer with his wealth of experiences to date, and we look forward to all the new and exciting projects that the charity can achieve.’’
